Celebrating 32 Years of Pageantry

Rules and Regulations


1. Contestants must be male, have reached the age of 21, and been a resident of Indiana for at least six (6) months prior to the date of the pageant. Indiana State ID or Driver’s License must be provided to the promoter upon registration.

2. Entry by a contestant who is currently in open criminal proceedings or is currently on probation in retribution for a crime will be denied. A contestant who has successfully completed probation, or whose criminal case is dismissed, will be eligible to enter. Any contestant found to be untruthful about their criminal status will be permanently removed from eligibility within the system.

3. Judging will be on a total points accumulated system. Score sheets will be furnished by Great Lakes Productions®.    Ties for winner, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th alternate will be broken by the answering of questions by the persons involved.

4. Contestants will be judged in the following categories: Talent, Solo Talent, Evening Gown, Male Interview and Platform Presentation.  Only the Top 5 will participate in the Platform Presentation.

5. The use or dispensing of any type of drug is forbidden. Possession of firearms or other weapons is forbidden.  Immediate disqualification will result for those who break this rule. Contestants are responsible for their helpers and dancers.

6. Talent presentation will be limited to seven (7) minutes. Prop set-up time will be limited to three (3) minutes. Prop set-up time is not included in the seven (7) minute limit for talent. You WILL be timed on set-up, take down, and talent time.  Solo talent presentation will be limited to three (3) minutes. There are no props allowed for solo talent other that hand held props or removable clothing.  If you exceed the timeframe the DJ will be instructed to stop the talent at seven minutes and three minutes respectively and you will be unable to complete the talent.

7. Any type talent presentation is acceptable except those presentations that might cause injury to the audience or to other contestants. No pyrotechnics allowed (fire, flash pots, flaming batons, sparklers, open flames, etc.) NO excessive loose glitter.

8. Any contestant caught in the act of stealing will be immediately disqualified and removed from the location of the pageant.

9. Any contestant whose actions are interpreted as demeaning to the title of Miss Gay Indiana will be disqualified.

10. The use of any type of hormone therapy is not allowed. Absolutely no breast implants, cosmetic or body enhancing implants, silicone or any other similar type product/chemical injections, excluding the face, will be allowed before or during the contestant’s reign.

11. All contestants must abide by the standards of conduct for contestants and titleholders. They are as follows:

  • Above all else respect the title and act as a professional, ie. they must present themselves in a professional manner at all times, while representing their respective titles.

  • Must never demean the pageant or the title they represent.

  • Must never cause substantial problems for their promoter or for those with whom they perform.

  • Should never become overly intoxicated while representing their respective titles.

  • Should never participate in any type of argument, except as a mediator, while representing their title.

  • Should never wear any other crown other than the Official Miss Gay Indiana crown during their reign, while representing MGI.

  • Should always try and rectify any problems they may have with their promoter and/or co-performers in a peaceful manner and in good faith.

  • Should never lecture the audience, only provide quality entertainment.

  • We ask that MGI not compete in any other pageant during their reign without the consent of the MGI board.

12.  No changes are allowed from preliminary night to final night compitition at Miss Gay Indiana,  and that an infraction of this rule will result in an administrative point deduction.

13.  Miss Gay Indiana is required to have at least one benefit performance that he produces in conjuction with GLP during the year of their reign.  All proceeds will go to the HIV/AIDS charity of his choosing.
