Rules & Regulations

THE OFFICIAL MR. GAY INDIANA CONTEST

1. The qualities that Mr. Gay Indiana should possess are: intelligence, effective communications skills, talent, the ability to entertain, physical fitness, an energetic, masculine personality, and the ability to be a good administrator of the Contest System.

2. Contestants must have reached the age of twenty-one (21) years prior to the date of the Preliminary, must be male as shown on his legal identification, must self-identify as gay, and must be a United States citizen. POSITIVE PROOF (driver’s license, state identification card, passport, or birth certificate) MUST be provided to the promoter.

3. Contestants must submit proof of a minimum residency of six (6) in Indiana. Proof may be in the form of a lease, utility bills, canceled rent or mortgage payments, etc.

4. The use, possession, and/or dispensing of any illegal drug will NOT be tolerated while a Contestant is participating in  the Competition. Promoter will immediately disqualify any Contestant if drug use or drug possession by that Contestant is detected.

5. Any contestant that is not at an appointed place at an appointed time will be given administrative violation points. Punctuality is of the utmost importance. No excuses will be accepted for being late to any function.

6. Judging will be on a total points accumulated system. Score sheets will be furnished by Great Lakes Productions, Inc. Ties for winner, 1st and 2nd alternates will be broken by the answering of questions by the persons involved.

7. Contestants will be judged in the following 5 categories:  Fashion/Modeling, Stage Interview, and Talent, Sunday evening; and Personal Interview.

8. Talent presentation will be limited to five (5) minutes. Prop set-up and takedown time will be limited to two (2) minutes. Prop set-up time is not included in the five (5) minute limit for talent. You WILL be timed on set-up, take down, and talent time. If you exceed your talent presentation time, you will receive a score of ZERO. If you exceed any prop time, administrative violations will be issued. Any type talent presentation is acceptable except those presentations that might cause injury to the audience or to other contestants. No pyrotechnics allowed (fire, flash pots, flaming batons, sparklers, open flames, etc.)

9. At no time will a Judge be allowed in a Contestant’s room, or vice versa. A Judge and a Contestant may not be intimate in any setting prior to the close of the Contest. If this rule is broken, both the Judge and the Contestant will be immediately disqualified.

10. Any contestant whose actions are interpreted as demeaning to the title of Mr. Gay Indiana will be disqualified. All contestants must abide by the standards of conduct for contestants and titleholders. They are as follows:

A. Mr. Gay Indiana Contestants and Titleholders must present themselves in a professional manner at all times, while representing their respective titles.

B. Must never demean or speak ill of the contest system or the title they represent.

C. Must never cause problems for their promoter or for those with whom they perform.

D. Will not use and /or dispense any type of illegal drug(s).

E. Should never become overly intoxicated, nor will he appear “under the influence” while representing their respective titles.

F. Titleholders should try and rectify any problems they may have with their promoter and CO-performers. All complaints must be properly documented.

G. Mr. Gay Indiana will not wear any other medallion other than the Official Mr. Gay Indiana endorsed medallion during their reign, while representing the Medallion's title.

11. Any contestant caught in the act of stealing will be immediately disqualified and removed from the location of the contest.
