What is Miss Gay Indiana? Miss Gay Indiana is a female impersonation pageant for men who wish to express themselves through the historical art of female impersonation and entertainment. Miss Gay Indiana is a nationally recognized contest, known for our excellence in female impersonation and pageantry competition. We pride ourselves with over 26 years of providing entertainers a highly respected outlet for promoting their love and commitment to the art of female impersonation. The Miss Gay Indiana contest is open to all Indiana male residents at least 21 years old. Preliminary contests from all over the entire state send representatives to vie for the title of Miss Gay Indiana, including Bloomington, Evansville, South Bend, Kokomo, Muncie, Terre Haute, Fort Wayne, South Bend, and Indianapolis. Our Mission Our purpose is to promote the historical art of female impersonation and entertainment through involvement in HIV/AIDS fundraising and community outreach programs and services. It is our desire to be ambassadors of compassion and acceptance, promote positive GLBT role models, and benefit communities at large without prejudice. History of Great Lakes Productions and Miss Gay Indiana Miss Gay Indiana was founded under the direction of Mr. Cleo Basher, who owned and managed the pageant for the past 26 years. Each year he crowned contestants that reigned as symbols of excellence in the art of female impersonation. These talented individuals went on to compete at the national Miss Gay America pageant representing Great Lakes Productions and Miss Gay Indiana, achieving great respect and recognition for Indiana on a national level.
